Hi, my name is Alana and I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor who works in a  pluralistic way, using a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques to suit your individual needs. Encouraging you to find your best way forward.

My Interests

I am enthusiastic and committed with exploring healthier coping strategies and learning of self-compassion as this is one of my values that has helped me to gain a better understanding of myself.  Involving not having to focus on time whilst providing mindfulness and self-compassion.  I enjoy walking and hiking in nature, whether it involves travelling, exploring new places or climbing mountains.  I like attending various car shows and learning to play golf.  I love to create my own artwork drawings and paintings, especially trees and beach scenes, which I find calming and relaxing.

My Story

Previously I worked with children from 0-11 years guiding, helping and supporting them to achieve their goals and reach their full potential. Whether as a Childminder, Early Years Practitioner in a Pre-school, Higher Level Teaching Assistant and as an Art teacher in a junior school.  I was part of a Well-being Champion team for school staff, listening, and supporting them in a confidential, safe environment.

I have experience counselling for a mental health charity working with 18-25 year olds listening, guiding and supporting them with self-reflection, self-awareness as they worked through their challenges.  Encouraging them to recognise, assess their triggers, connect with past challenges and find positive coping strategies, enabling them to overcome their difficulties.  Where they felt safe, empowered and hopeful.

In 2020, I decided to widen my skills and knowledge to work with adults, hence I studied and trained as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor.  Where I work pluralistically, using various therapeutic approaches, including Person-centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural therapies. Enabling you to find healthier coping mechanisms as you begin making connections with your past and present, self-reflect upon your challenges and become self-aware.  That would encourage you to identify your behaviours, feelings, thoughts and emotions.  Which would help you to feel empowered, hope and begin your healing process as you learn to thrive towards setting healthier positive goals and reach your full potential.
